BHI specializes in the development of state-of-the-art economic and statistical models for policy analysis. It is based in Medway, Massachusetts.
Founded in 1991, BHI was the research arm of the Department of Economics at Suffolk University in Boston. In 2015, the Institute and the university agreed to terminate the relationship effective December 31, 2016. The institute is now a free-standing entity.
It distributes its research to interested citizens and to key opinion leaders and policy makers through various print and electronic media, including its policy studies; briefings; policy forums; opinion editorials; radio and TV interviews; and its website (www.beaconhill.org).
BHI publications and events have been the subject of more than 1,000 reports, stories and opinion pieces in major newspapers and magazines throughout the United States, including the The Boston Globe, Boston Herald, Christian Science Monitor, Chronicle of Philanthropy, Financial Times, Los Angeles Times Magazine, New Republic, Newsweek, The New York Times, U.S. News and World Report, Wall Street Journal and Washington Times.
